Recent seasons have seen the Koreans dominate the latter stages with Pohang Steelers being crowned champions in 2009, Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma in 2010 and Jeonbuk Motors beaten finalisits in 2011. The 2012 competition looks more fascinating then ever with Chinese powerhouse Guangzhou Evergrande drawn alongside Jeonbuk and Japanese side Kashiwa Reysol.
